Northwood Presbyterian Church is committed to proclaiming the gospel of Christ to the community and caring for and loving our neighbors as ourselves.
Through careful prayer and discernment, we have found vision to focus on three areas of care:
Nursing Homes & Assisted Living Facilities
Using a variety of gifts and passions, we are making efforts to care for those in our community:
We have volunteers who visit with dementia/alzheimer residents at Bunchwood View Center.
We have two groups of volunteers who sing on a regular basis at several Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities in Bowie county.
We have volunteers who offer auction items with toy money at the Christian Care Center.
We have volunteers who work with several area public schools.
We have volunteers who work with Hero's Pantry, a monthly food pantry for Military veterans who have insufficient funds for food.
We have volunteers who have become volunteer chaplains at Wadley Hospital.
We have volunteered time helping both Texarkana College and Texas A&M, Texarkana Campus.
We have volunteers who help with Runnin' WJ Ranch, a therapeutic horseback riding program for children with disabilities.
We have volunteers who work with programs for the homeless.
We support programs that work to end domestic violence, bring clean water to places where there is no clean water, and programs that aide persons with disabilities.
